I Still Don't Know What These Are Called

The 1:1 pike:musket ratio is just about accurate for some units early in the early Civil War.

I have seen this assembly of troops referred to by many names: regiment, battalia, brigade, tercio even. The only thing I'm certain of is that "regiment" is more of an administrative term and that in battle, regiments were split up/combined to make formations of approximately equal size. The Seventeenth Century was often frustratingly vague in its use of technical language.

The Bishop! (part two)

Today's update features some almost-but-not-quite-finished models. I'll be varnishing them tomorrow, but I thought some work in progress stuff was overdue.

Lax State of Affairs part II: Map and Rules

It's been a while since I posted about Lax State of affairs, but I've finally fleshed out some rules and present them for your viewing pleasure. I've not play tested these at all, so if you have a spin with them, please let me know how it went and how I could improve.

Ok Devious, Don't Move!

As I hinted earlier, my general for my Normans is none other than Bishop Odo, the memorable club-wielding, tapestry-commissioning ecclesiastical relative of William the Conqueror. My depiction is based on 5 minutes looking at the Bayeux tapestry on the net, then painting him purple as it's the most expensive colour available back in the day (I think).

"Lax State of Affairs"- a series of armchair strategy articles.

So, as promised, here are my scattered thoughts on what a campaign game set during The Anarchy should look like. I'm basing these thoughts on my own inventions and this set of things wot I found on the internet, plus a bunch of stuff half remembered from Extra Credits videos on Youtube. I'm keeping all articles on this separate from the main blog, to keep this sophistry away from the people who just like pretty pictures.
