Painting Bottleneck

It has become increasingly clear that I am too lazy to finish the models I have started painting. Let the Plastic pile (beloved of all those other wargaming blogs) commence! As I have no money, this may turn to my advantage. Anyway, I post my latest results, with the promise of more tomorrow. Maybe.

Here we have the white-basecoated infantry looking rather better

I've started painting the cloth bits on my foot and knights, with encouraging results. Colour scheme plans of restricting blue to the knights is a good idea, as it restricts the common people to more earthy shades.

It's easier to paint brown horses than other horses.
As you can see from the shot above, I've undercoated the shields too, in preparation for bright patterns. Two key sources will be this analysis of shields used in the Bayeux  tapestry, and these models, because most of the Bayeux tapestry shields are plain white. Boo!

More knights ready to be chainmailed.
With all this chainmail and fewer details that the Bretonnian bowmen, I'm getting this lot done at a slightly faster rate, so have prepared more for the brushes.

Two knights approach finishing: note virtually identical surcoats!
My other knights are struggling toward completion: I'm having problems with getting the cloth right on account of the transparancy of the paint (chiefly the yellow), but there you go.

Final shot to indicate how much work I've not done.
